It’s Mirror Time

It’s Mirror Time

Do you look at yourself in the mirror? How often do you look into your own eyes? You really should. Your eyes are the window to your soul. Stand in front of the mirror for a few minutes each day looking into your eyes deeply. You may be uncomfortable and you may even cry at first but continue to look past that. Crying is ok. This practice is called mirror-work and it will take you on a journey deep into self. This exercise may take about fifteen rewarding minutes which will deepen your relationship with yourself and help you to gain a sense of self-love. Try this in the morning to help kick-start your day off with a bang of love explosives.

Have a conversation with yourself while you are looking deep into your eyes through the mirror. Take a moment to speak positive affirmations or loving self-talk at this time.

Self-love affirmations to say to yourself while looking in the mirror:

“I love me”

“I am beautiful”

“I am worthy”

“I am special”

“I am love”

“I am giving”

“I am wonderfully made”

“I am healthy”

“I am fine”

“I am abundant”

“I am thankful and grateful”

When we truly love ourselves fully, then and only then will we be open and receptive to receiving someone else loving us.

DO YOU LOVE YOURSELF? DO YOU CARE FOR YOURSELF DEEPLY?

DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE ENOUGH?

How or what do you feel when you tell yourself “I love you”? Do you feel good, confident, and true to yourself when you say this or do you feel uncomfortable and awkward?

This is what I call handling our junk in our trunk. We have to address our own issues before we venture out to make emotional connections with others. Premature emotional connections are prone to result in co-dependency relationships. We wind up placing the burdensome responsibility and expectancy on another person to love us when we do not even know how to love ourselves correctly. This may be painful but it will be very beneficial in the long run. It will also help to raise your conscious level of self-awareness.

Louise Hay encourages this very exercise for self-growth and self-love.

I feel that I must go a little deeper and share my opinion on this subject in conjunction with relationships. I see and hear a lot of people making complaints about not having a mate, and I hear men and women bashing each other.

One thing that we must remember is that being connected to another person does not bring instantaneous happiness in any relationship. Relationships take a lot of work and first, as I mentioned earlier, people need to get their own junk together… PERIOD. The reason why most relationships fail is that most people are NOT happy with themselves, first and foremost, and they are looking for the other person to make them happy. How do you expect someone else to do YOU, and YOU can’t even do YOURSELF? The majority of people do not even know their own selves let alone love themselves again as I mentioned earlier. Get to know YOURSELF. Learn to Love and be Happy within yourself, work on YOU and YOU will attract what you’re looking for.

Me personally, “I LOVE ME”, and I’m happy with a man or without a man. We create our own destiny, so create yours and enjoy the journey along the way…

Life is too short not to be happy. Remember just because they may be a couple does not mean that they are happy. Everything that glitters is not gold. From a distance, glass and diamonds look the same. With that being said, whether you are single or in a relationship… “BE THE BEST YOU… THAT YOU CAN BE…”

In my Bobby McFerrin voice…”Don’t Worry Be Happy”

May we all learn to start practicing more self-love techniques. Mirror time is a great way to start on the road to healing, recovery, and loving yourself the way you should be loved.

Feel free to share your thoughts and your experiences of how you self-love and the beneficial transformation you’ve seen in your life. Please leave your comments below. How difficult was this activity for you? Did you find it beneficial? Do you love you?
